O Content, Content, Wherefore Art Thou Content?

It seems that nearly every blog I visit has the obligatory list of “100 Things” about its author. Not to be left out, and as a way of coming up with some content for this thing (what does that say about my life?), here’s my attempt:

  1. I’m a Minnesota girl.
  2. But I’ve lived in Pennsylvania for the last five years.
  3. It’s my husband’s fault—good thing my family likes him.
  4. Okay, so it’s not his fault that he’s from New Jersey.
  5. We planned to have a baby and move back to MN after the first two years.
  6. But somehow life got in the way.
  7. I have fake boobs.
  8. But not the kind that movie stars have.
  9. The kind that cancer survivors have.
  10. We have had a 9-year-old named Penny. Unfortunately, we lost her to cancer in October of 2005.
  11. She was a Porgi.
  12. You know—a pug/corgi mix.
  13. Yes, we did make that up, why do you ask?
  14. A short time later, we got Maggie from a rescue.
  15. I’ve visited 40 of the 50 states.
  16. I want to see the remaining 10 before I die.
  17. I don’t plan on dying anytime soon.
  18. I don’t actually care about seeing some states.
  19. But I want to be able to cross them off my list.
  20. If I listed each one here, I’d only have to come up with 90 things.
  21. I tend to be a perfectionist.
  22. But you’d never guess it if you saw my unmade bed or the hairspray that coats my bathroom floor.
  23. I spend way too much time on the computer.
  24. I like to read blogs and play Zuma.
  25. Sometimes I wonder why I started this blog.
  26. Because most of the time I don’t really have that much to say.
  27. Oregon
  28. So I go a few days without writing.
  29. Then I begin to feel guilty.
  30. I wouldn’t want to disappoint my “readers,” you know.
  31. I don’t want this to become just another obligation.
  32. I have enough of those already.
  33. I met my husband in Las Vegas.
  34. But probably not the way you think.
  35. We work for the same company, and we were both at a training event.
  36. I was teaching.
  37. Mississippi
  38. Because I work in corporate training.
  39. I love cheese curds and Dairy Queen.
  40. Probably because of my Minnesota upbringing.
  41. Visiting the state fair is one of my favorite things to do in the summer.
  42. They have the best cheese curds there.
  43. But the real reason I love to go is to see the butterheads.
  44. No, I was never a butterhead.
  45. West Virginia
  46. I was a band geek in high school.
  47. But also a cheerleader.
  48. When there are only 75 people in your class, you get to do both.
  49. Maine
  50. I still play the clarinet.
  51. In a community band and at our church.
  52. I also sing in the church choir.
  53. There’s a reason why I was always in the band.
  54. But they let me sing anyway.
  55. Louisiana
  56. I love to play the piano.
  57. But I pretty much suck at it.
  58. Good thing mine has headphones.
  59. So no one else has to hear me play.
  60. Tennessee
  61. Alaska
  62. Vermont
  63. New Hampshire
  64. Arkansas
  65. Yes, I’m cheating.
  66. In fact, I think this is the end.
  67. No one ever reads all the way to 100 anyway.
