Is this thing on?

In the last several days, a few readers have dropped by to inform me that it is in fact no longer Saturday.

So where have the rest of you been?! I mean, come on . . . I don’t post for a whole month and you’re not even concerned? No one even cares that I dropped off the face of the earth?!? Hmmmmpf . . . I see how you are.

Okay, okay . . . totally kidding about that. Honestly? I thought it would be better to leave up a post where I’d actually done something than continually post to say, “I’ve got nothin’.” Also, I’ve been busy with a few things . . . .

At the end of February, I flashed my boobs in a Flickr contest to see if I could get into an invite-only photography group. I won! I won! Well, technically I came in third. But it was good enough, and I got in.

Since then, I’ve been spending TONS of time poring over the awesome group discussions, learning everything I can about turning my little photography hobby into a business. I’m not sure how far I want to take it, but it would be nice if I could earn enough money to at least finance my equipment.

Along those lines, I’ve been taking pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. Of our church . . .

Sanctuary

And church members . . .

Anonymity

And babies (their fronts too!) . . . .

Bum

I went to a camera club meeting where this awesome somewhat-local photographer spoke. I think it’s a pretty good club, too. They meet twice a month—one meeting is a program where there’s some kind of presentation, and the second meeting is always a competition. This month’s competition is Tuesday night. I’m not entering (I don’t think my boob pic would go over too well!), but I’m going to go and see how they run things.

I spent this ENTIRE past weekend on the computer. There’s a half-price sale on business cards at the lab where I print my photos, and it ends next Saturday. So the last two days have been spent creating (and re-working) this:

Sample

If you’re one of my Flickr friends, you’re probably already aware of the entire painful process. I need to finish it tomorrow night so I can send it off along with the newborn shoot photos I edited today (see the little cutie above).

Is that enough photography stuff? I’m also working on getting a music group together for Easter at our church. Sometime this week I need to find the time to arrange and print the music.

On Thursday, J.P. and I are heading to Minnesota. My 86-year-old grandpa hasn’t been doing well. In the last few weeks he’s had a feeding tube inserted because the muscles and nerves in his throat aren’t working so well anymore. He was aspirating food into his lungs, and as you can imagine, it’s difficult to get much nutrition that way (not to mention the risk of choking). And now he’s in the nursing home. So we’re going to see him and the rest of my family. We haven’t been home since Thanksgiving, so it’ll be good to see everyone.

I’m hoping that spring will have sprung here by the time we get home. I’m so tired of winter, and I see photos all over Flickr where people are outside. With no coats. And there’s green grass. And flowers. I want that too!!!

And on that pleasant note, I’ll leave you. I can’t say for how long, but hopefully it’ll be less than a month. πŸ™‚

Ditto what Oddmix said….since I see you on Flickr I don’t worry about the lack of blogging. Congrats on your boobshot. I’m jealous of your getting into SYWPP, but I guess I got frustrated/lazy and kind of gave up trying to win a spot.

    Oh and Happy Birthday!
